Miles Away is the story of a dozen pivotal Newcastle United fixtures told from the perspective of a fan without a ticket. The journey spans five unforgettable decades – from Keegan’s Entertainers to knife-edge promotion races, to bruising relegation battles and a terrace hero’s unforgettable final strike.

It builds towards a dramatic climax: the club’s first domestic trophy in 70 years and a famous Wembley win for Eddie Howe’s Black and White Army. The 12 games unfold alongside the adventures of a supporter following the Magpies away from the turnstiles. Along the way, he encounters a technological revolution (moving from print and Teletext to the smartphone age), Harry Potter, Esther Rantzen, a European Cup semi-final shoot-out in another sport, plus a glorious afternoon with the London Geordies.
