ELECTRO POP PIONEER & 'CARS' HITMAKER REMEMBERED BY 500+ FANS

Gary Numan – A People’s History is the story of one of the true pioneers of electronic music as told by over 500 fans. With five Billboard 200 albums, including The Pleasure Principle at no.16, and a top 10 single with 1980 hit ‘Cars’ (no.9 on the Billboard 100, no.1 in Canada), Gary was one of the biggest pop stars of the early 1980s, bringing the sound of synthesisers to the fore.

Rightly celebrated as a music legend (Jack White, Wu-Tang Clan, Basement Jaxx, Damon Albarn (Blur), Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, Afrika Bambaataa, Sugababes & Kurt Nine Inch Nails all cite him as an influence), and with a legion of devoted fans known as Numanoids, Gary’s career has seen a resurgence in recent years with a reputation for spectacular live performances.

Fully authorised by Gary, this book charts his 45-year career from its very beginnings through to the present day with stories from fans, friends and colleagues. With over 250 photographs, an introduction by Gary and a foreword by Andy McCluskey of Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (‘If You Leave’), this is a book that no Numanoid will want to be without.
