Do the emerging forces of the political far right have an architectural and urban planning agenda? This question runs through Right Spaces, a collection of essays written between 2015 and 2020 that anticipated many elements of the current debate. Supplemented by a new, detailed foreword that sheds light on recent international developments, these essays, collated in English for the first time, reveal that architecture has become a central medium of the global authoritarian right, from ethno-nationalists and historical revisionists to libertarians.
This development has been accompanied by a policy of low interest rates pursued by the world’s main central banks in the wake of the 2008 global financial crisis, which led to a rapid increase in construction and a paradigm shift in architecture from a means of creating useful objects and towards a form of asset creation.
- Highly topical international issue
- A collection of Stephan Trüby’s widely acclaimed texts on the political dimension of reconstruction: now translated into English
- Continues the discussion of anti-Semitism and racism in architecture and architectural education
