The 1990s proved to be a very colourful decade for Derbyshire bus operators. The main town operators in Chesterfield and Derby presented a brand-new image post-privatisation. Both adopted a totally different base colour to that previously used, and in the case of Derby a new identity was created called City Rider.
The infamous Stagecoach stripes were born into the East Midland fleet and some successful and a few not so successful but nevertheless interesting independent bus operators emerged, all proudly displaying their own distinctive liveries. There was also a noticeable and varied array of different vehicle types to be found operating in the run-up to the new millennium, including some unique and heritage vehicles.
A fine example of one of these was the Dennis Pax V operated by Peakbus of Chesterfield.
Packed with 180 colour photographs and informative captions, Andrew Bagshaw presents a fascinating insight into buses in Derbyshire during the 1990s.
